Dirk Philips on the New Birth.

A few months back, I shared some of the writings of Dirk Philips on the new birth. In that post, I selected some writings that dealt with the law of God, and how it drives the sinner to Christ. You can read that post here.
This section goes on to show the results of the new birth in the repentant sinners life.

All those who now out of the teaching of the law learn to fear God, confess sin, truly repent, Matt 3:8; Mark 1:4; Luke 3:8, depart from their sinful life and godless being, and believe the gospel with a repentant heart, accept Jesus Christ as their Savior, these are born anew out of God through His eternal word, 1 Peter 1:23; James 1:18. Thus, in the power of His Holy Spirit, they are being renewed along with it and also sealed unto the day of deliverance, Ephesians 4:30, and have free access to God, and to the throne of grace, Hebrews 5:3; Romans 5:2, in the faith of Jesus Christ. Here the law is now silent where it formerly condemned. Here are stilled the thunderbolt, the earthquake, the storm, and that terrible appearance, Exodus 19:16, of Mount Sinai. Here shines a brighter light of the gospel and the sun of righteousness in the believer's heart, John 12:46; Wisd. of Sol 5:6. Here is a whole new person; a new heart, reason and conscience; a child of God; and an heir of the heavenly kingdom, bound with God,born anew out of God, John 3:3-8, strengthened with His power, and prepared for eternal life.
And that is the spiritual rebirth out of God's Word, 1 Peter 1:23; James 1:18, in which we are granted or receive that lost image of the knowledge of God, His will, and that image of divine righteousness whereby we can find acceptance before God through Christ, John 3:15. And that is God's will, and the true ordering of the Lord, that we should thus be born anew out of that word of God, and grow daily in the knowledge of God, Ephesians 4:15, in faith, in love, and proceed in all obedience to the divine word, to the praise of the Lord, and to our salvation.
